We usher in Shabbat Friday evenings at 5:30 pm with an informal Kabbalat Shabbat service held in our chapel. Led by Cantor Raizen, this upbeat, participatory service filled with spirited singing is a wonderful way to welcome Shabbat.
On Shabbat morning beginning at 9:00 am (with Torah service beginning at 10:00 am), surrounded by our beautiful stained-glass windows and view of the trees outside the sanctuary, we feel the warmth and spirituality of the service as we join in prayer and song. As a truly participatory, egalitarian service, our members are actively involved leading parts of the service, chanting Torah and Haftarah, and acting as gabbaim. Along with Rabbi Ginsberg and Cantor Raizen, our members’ participation creates a special feeling of connectedness with our community. Saturday morning services also feature a thought-provoking and insightful D’Var Torah (teaching) led by Rabbi Ginsberg.
Following services, we join together for our weekly Kiddush lunch, where we extend the joy and celebration of Shabbat over a meal. All are welcome.
