Following Shabbat service, we will have a Tu Bishvat seder as part of the kiddush lunch. During this celebration, we honor the “New Year of the trees”. Seder plates for Tu BiShvat traditionally include wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates. These seven foods are served because the Bible describes the promised land as a “a land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey.” (Deuteronomy 8:8).
