 Premiered in 1832, the opera was part of the Italian operatic era known as bel canto, literally “beautiful singing.” It’s a style where beautiful melodies are foremost, whether the opera is a tragedy or comedy.  “L’ilisir d’amore” is one of the most performed operas, listed as number 13. The story is romantic in nature and style, and contains some of the most well-known arias and duets, especially the great tenor aria, “Una furtive lagrima”, a must for any tenor.

This opera will bring much joy to any person who not only loves opera, but just beautiful music as well, with a sweet romantic story.
