Tisha B’Av, named for the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av, commemorates the destruction of both the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem. It is observed with a sunset to sunset fast, mourning customs like those practiced during shiva, and the chanting of the Book of Lamentations in its traditional, haunting melody, by candlelight. We will observe Tisha B’Av with services on Wednesday evening, July 26, at 8:30 pm and on Thursday morning, July 27, at 8:30 am, in conjunction with Beth Jacob Synagogue. Rav Glazer, Cantor Raizen and Rabbi Agar will lead the services at Beth Abraham.
