Beth Abraham Youth Activities

Students who have completed the 7th grade in our Religious School and have celebrated a Bar or Bat Mitzvah are invited to participate in a monthly class known as TEXT, Teens Exploring Torah. The class is currently held on the third Saturday of the month following the Shabbat service and Kiddush lunch. The focus of the class for the 2009-10 school year is Jewish Values and is facilitated by Rabbi Barsky and Cantor Raizen. This year the class will culminate in a Confirmation ceremony for those students in grades 10 & 11. For more information, contact Cantor Raizen.

Beth Abraham is part of the Great Lakes and Rivers Region of United Synagogue and students are able to be a part of USY (United Synagogue Youth) and attend regional and national events. For more information, contact Cantor Raizen.

Post B’nai Mitzvah students are welcome to participate and take an active role in synagogue programs. They are invited to serve on synagogue committees and are currently involved in the Social Action and Membership committees.

Most of our teens have learned to chant both Torah and Haftarah portions in the course of their B’nai Mitzvah training and attendance at our Religious School. They are encouraged to continue using these skills by participating in Shabbat and holiday services throughout High School.
