Life Cycle Events
Within our Jewish tradition, each life-cycle celebration contains special meaning. A Bar/Bat Mitzvah is an event that involves the entire family. It is a deeply moving and meaningful occasion. The Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony is a stepping-stone in the life-long process of Jewish living and growth.
At Beth Abraham Synagogue, preparation for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a process which begins when a child enters Religious School. Skills needed to lead the congregation in prayer are learned through the years. Individualized tutoring with the Rabbi and Cantor begins 8-12 months before the celebration. Students are evaluated and then help set a course of study that will allow them to participate as fully as they are capable in order to make the experience a positive and meaningful one.
